Alcohol Home Delivery – The Only Solution
We can state that Delhi government has “failed miserably” in carrying out its duty to protect the people from COVID-19. As the government decided to open liquor shops that started a movement in the people flock outside liquor shops. Moreover, they behave irresponsibly, adding that this will be a huge detriment to government’s effort to contain the virus. Then, why doesn’t government allow alcohol home delivery in Delhi?
Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, it is the duty of the state to develop and adopt adequate measures to help contain the spread of the virus. Alcohol Home Delivery in Delhi seems to be a feasible option for now. Meanwhile, according to a survey as much as 52 per cent citizens want states to implement a solution for home delivery of liquor in red zones to prevent the spread of COVID-19 due to crowds at liquor vends.
However, the only option to apply for an e-Token to purchase liquor from physical stores only.
How to apply for liquor purchase e-token in Delhi? (With Pictures)
Step 1.
Open the website www.qtoken.in on your web browser or click on this link.
Now, click on the ‘Apply for Liquor Purchase Token’ option
Step 2.
Fill in the required details, which include your name, phone number, govt. ID proof and more
Select your nearest Theka
Step 3.
Read the instructions and click on – Download Token
Step 4.
Once done. The system will allot a time slot when you click on apply. The e-token will come on the phone number with the time slot details.
Important Details about e-token alcohol purchase
- e-Token does not support alcohol home delivery for now.
- The sale of liquor was allowed from May 4, 2020 in Delhi as the government extended the lockdown for two weeks with some relaxations based on the Centre’s guidelines.
- Token system has been introduced for the purchase of alcohol from liquor stores in Delhi.
- The Delhi government has also introduced a ‘special corona fee’ on alcohol sale which will be 70 per cent of the MRP.
Note that only 160 liquor shops are opened in Delhi and only 50 people per hour will be allowed to take the token. So, make sure that you stock up good when you get a chance.
Delhi e-token website crashed within few hours of its launch on Thursday. When checked at 2.30 PM on May 8,2020, the website was still showing ‘Server Error (500)’. As per Delhi govt authorities, the error is due to heavy rush on the website and it will be resolved soon.
