Johnnie Walker Double Black Label Unboxing & review. Double Black Label gets its smokiness from the increased use of Diageo’s smokier whiskies and the use of deeply charred barrels. But Double Black it isn’t all smoke. Also, the grain whiskies that are part of this blend allows the sweetness to come through the smoke. Actually, this release wouldn’t be a bad way to introduce a new scotch drinker to a smoky expression.
An interesting twist on Johnnie Walker Black Label, Double Black was out for general release in 2011 after a successful launch in travel retail. Double Black adds to the normal Black Label profile by including more Islay whisky and casks that have been heavily charred, giving a more intense flavour with a greater emphasis on smoke while keeping true to the sophisticated Johnnie Walker style.

One of the most recent additions to the range, but already a classic. Johnnie Walker Double Black offers a complex and full-bodied flavor experience in an extremely smooth blend, with a strong hint of peat and accented notes of raisins.
Our blenders have selected naturally aged and smoked whiskies that give it a deep and complex character. Also, Double Black Label whisky got numerous awards, including gold in the International Spirits Challenge and the double gold medal in the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2015. Recommended serve is over ice with ginger ale and a fresh orange wheel in a highball glass.
